Another day of setup. It went pretty smooth except for two things. 1) We needed to buy and install a Pro Tools system, a high-end audio editor. 2) We needed a weird cable that we didn’t pack. We dealt with number 1 at around 4:00, when someone went to the store to buy one. Installing a system like this can be a Major Deal, but we got it put together pretty quickly. Unfortunately, the store didn’t have the cable we needed for #2.l We dealt with #2 by finding a cable company and… er… I forget how we actually got it. It had something to do with an IOU scribbled on a business card (not mine) and left at a booth. We’ll smooth it all over in the morning. Sometines it’s better to beg for forgiveness than to ask for permission. Especially when your boss insists that it’s all OK.
At the end of the day was lots of the usual drinking, eating, drinking, inappropriate conversation, and drinking. I made some unflattering remarks about the “chef” who cooked my well-done steak into some form of matter that was almost white on the inside. Also about an unfortunate tall fellow crossing the street who had a short torso and very long legs. The perfect state of inebreation to, say, update my company’s website home page. I don’t think I used any bad language, but now I have to check…
Big vats of beer, or missle silos? Dave and Pete debate the topic at Gordon Biersh.
We walked over to the Hard Rock Casino, which is the biggest meat market I’ve been into in years. I felt like I was in high school. Spring Breakers are everywhere here I saw a girl tip 50 cents on a $35 bar tab! Pete sat down at the $5 blackjack table, and was busted before he finished his drink. Remember: the house always wins.

Yeah, I can vouch for the drinking. 🙂 This happens at least once during every trade show:
(phone rings)
Me: “Hello?”
Jeff: “Hi!”
Me: “How’s it going?”
Jeff: (pause) “I’m really drunk!”
How come you never get that drunk at home? 🙂
