NAB Day 1

Travel day. I got to my hotel room and it’s a huge suite. I have a kitchen area, a living room with a chair and a couch, and a bedroom with two long double beds. The kitchen has a bar area with two barstools, a fride (with ice) and a bunch of cabinets. There a a few tables, a desk, free internet, etc. Pretty swanky room. Only in Vegas do you get a room like this for about $100/night.

We set up parts of the booth today. It’s always strange getting to these shows and not having a real plan for what software will be running, what demo material do we have, etc. Somehow you make it work. Tomorrow will be the day to figure out the really tough stuff. Apple had black tarps all over their booth so they’ll probably have new stuff to show. We’re right next door to Apple, which means I’ll be busy all week. I’m doing the “main stage” presentation on a new product, talking myself hourse all week long.

Dinner at Applebees. Strange steak with shrimp and melted cheese on top. Everything on the menu sounded weird to me, but I probably picked the weirdest thing. Before dinner, Anna called and told me that a bird or something had scraped into all three windows and she was freaked out. I’m getting to sleep early since I probably will stay up every night for the rest of the week.

Lighting? It’s not really that yellow? Have a fun trip!

Nah, it’s my camera phone. The walls are white, but turned yellow-green when I took the low-light picture with my camera phone. I like the weird effect my camera phone gets – it’s perfect for hazy blog pictures.
